Book Review | American Queen

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.

When I was a girl, I received a warning: Keep your kisses to yourself.

Twice I ignored it, and twice my heart was utterly, miserably broken. I didn’t need to learn my lesson a third time. Instead, I swore off love forever.

But President Colchester hasn’t sworn me off—not by a long shot.

I knew him as Ash, the soldier I once kissed in a circle of broken glass. I haven’t forgotten his broken promises and forbidden desires. But the country knows him as the leader of the free world, all that stands between us and war.

Desperate to have me, Ash sends his best friend Embry to bring me to him. He doesn’t know about the secrets we also keep. Our own tragedies. Our own cravings. The second kiss. Soon, I find myself caught between past and present, pleasure and pain—and the two men who long for each other as much as they long for me. And as war and betrayal press ever closer, we tumble headlong into a passionate love affair that will change the world.

From the USA Today bestselling author of Priest and Misadventures of a Curvy Girl comes a contemporary MMF reimagining of the legend of King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot—elegant, carnal, and unforgettable. This is Book One of New Camelot.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the very first page, this book easily caught my attention. Am I really surprised though? Seriously, every time I read a book by this author I am always amazed how much I enjoy her writing. At this point, we would think I wouldn’t be surprised, but here we are. This book was intense, seductive, and everything I needed.

Greer, Ash and Emery are all interesting in their own right. Greer is so likable and I found her quite easy to identify with. She’s sweet, kind and the apple to her grandfather’s eye. I love the close relationship that they have together. Ash, wow. He’s quite a force. Honestly, the way the author writes this character felt like no other character I’ve read before. His intensity and dominant force really swallowed me whole. I hope that we get to see and learn much more about him because I’m highly intrigued. Emery is somewhat of a mystery that we don’t know too much about. But I’m hopeful that the further we get into this series the more we will learn and understand him.

I have so many unanswered questions and I’m really excited to see where the rest of the series goes. There are literally endless possibilities. I can’t wait to read book two! Seriously though, that cliffhanger was not totally unexpected, but it definitely shocked me.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
About the Author:

Sierra is a voracious reader of all things including the smuttiest smut, piles of non-fiction, and old-timey books with brooding widowers.

She loves writing the dirtiest things that she can think of, King Arthur, sparkling water, ancient mystery cults, coffee, leggings, and fog.

Her previous jobs have included firing ceramics, teaching living history lessons in one-room school house in full, 1904 school marm attire, and working in a library for several years (not in that order).

She lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, two children, and two giant dogs. And one horrible cat.

Her novels have been published in Czech, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, and Romanian. She’s been featured in Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Marie Claire, and Library Journal with a starred review.
