Book Review | The Never King

The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe

The stories were all wrong — Hook was never the villain.

For two centuries, all of the Darling women have disappeared on their 18th birthday. Sometimes they’re gone for only a day, some a week or a month. But they always return broken.

Now, on the afternoon of my 18th birthday, my mother is running around the house making sure all the windows are barred and the doors locked.

But it’s pointless.

Because when night falls, he comes for me. And this time, the Never King and the Lost Boys aren’t willing to let me go.

The Never King is a dark retelling of Peter and Wendy. If you like your enemies to lovers romance with hot, ruthless, morally gray love interests, you’ll enjoy The Never King and the Lost Boys. You can expect hate kissing, fighting, bickering, and ‘touch her and I’ll unalive you’ vibes.

Have you ever just stumbled upon a book by accident and ended up really loving it? This is what happened for me with this book. I was going through Bookstagram the other day and Sarah, from @sarahluvsromance_1201, was talking about this book in her stories and it had me very intrigued. So I had to do some investigating. Oh my, oh my. I’m so glad that I did. I’m a huge sucker for Disney reimaging/retellings especially if they’re Dark. This book literally had me Hooked, no pun intended, on the first 14 pages. I’m such a sucker for reimaginings/retellings, I don’t know anything that could make me happier (but don’t quote me on that). I absolutely loved this book. It was so easy to get caught up in and really ticked off all my boxes on what I love in a book. I can’t wait to see where book 2 goes!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5)

About the Author:

I’ve been writing since grade school when the pages of my stories were filled with adventure and treasure hunting. My first book was about a magical mansion full of gold and jewels.

I’ve since ditched the treasure hunts in favor of something better: steamy, sexy romance with all the villains. Now I spend most of my days daydreaming and writing about the bad boys of paranormal romance. You can usually find me at my desk with a cup of coffee and the kind of music my daughter calls gothic fairytale. I don’t know if that’s a good descriptor or not but you can check out my current favorite Spotify playlist here!

If you’re like me and you love steamy villain romance, stick around and let’s sink into a dark and magical world on the page together.
