Release Blitz & Book Review | The Finisher

The Finisher by RuNyx

Release Date: January 20th 2022

What happens when a beast of blood finds a bride of light in the land of death?

Growing up on the streets of Los Fortis, Alessandro ‘Alpha’ Villanova scrapped his way to the top, fighting for his very survival, losing everything in the process. A city that shunned him then is now the one he rules, albeit alone, as the king of a dark empire few know about.

Far from Alpha’s world, Zephyr de la Vega has a normal life, normal family, normal drama. Her biggest problem is people trying to make her lose a few pounds. When a chance encounter puts her on his path, she makes a proposition that changes the course of their lives.

As a killer goes on a spree in Alpha’s city, taking apart his scarred empire corpse by corpse, and The Syndicate comes into play, their partnership evolves into something deeper, more enduring, more powerful than either of them anticipated.

Evil ascends. Darkness descends.

A new order is born.

I received a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t know what it is about this book, the characters or just being back in the Dark Verse world. But this book absolutely took me by surprise. Before this book was released, I was excited about it. I’ve read every single book by this author so far and I absolutely love all her work. However with this book, in some weird way I’ve grown to love RuNyx even more than I previously did. Which I thought was absolutely impossible. The immediate connection that I felt to Alpha and Zephyr was unlike any other main characters that I’ve read before. I didn’t expect to fall so in love with both of them! Especially Zephyr. I identify so closely with her. Her sass, ray of sunshine attitude and heart, really drew me in. She’s such a relatable character. And Alpha? He surely lives up to his name and is also a big grump. Which made everything even better! When a book plays out vividly like a movie in my mind while I’m reading it, I know it’s a great book. The Finisher did that plus some. This book is one of those books that will forever live rent free in my mind. The emotions, characters, mystery, steam, storyline, twists and turns we are taken on just made this book, so far, my favorite book of the year. It’s one of those very rare times where I must give this amazing book 6 stars because in my opinion, it’s out of this world. There’s only three other books that’s ever made me feel this way, I now have number four!

P.s. The playlist for this book is just perfect. *Chefs kiss*

Quotes I loved:

“The gray won’t be forever.”

“Think of me moving on,” she deliberately used the term he hated. “Look at me now, on my hands and knees for you, exactly how you love it, and take me. Take me like I’m yours.” “You are mine,” he growled, biting the side of her neck in a move that made her grapple for the sheets. “Then show me. I don’t feel it.”

“Remember when I told you my heart was a dead scar tissue?” “Hmm.” “I feel it pumping again with you. My lifeblood. My little rainbow.” And he was hers. With his words warming her to the bone, Zephyr slept with her husband by her side.

“I didn’t realize how much I missed your touch. You gave a man starved a feast every day until he forgot what hunger felt like, and then took it away.”

About the Author:

I’m an ancient soul trapped in a 26-year-old body. The phoenix is my spirit animal, books are my lifesavers, and words are my lifeblood.

I was born with stories in my veins. As far back as my memories go, story-telling has been a part of my life.

I stumbled upon writing accidentally while going through severe depression. Writing became not just a means of expressing but also catharsis. Every single character and every single story became precious. It taught me to love, to live, and most importantly, it made me discover who I was.
