Summary:

From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes an emotionally captivating and thrilling, romantic suspense.

At first, his words were harsh and his touch cold.

I didn’t want to be in his presence any more than he wanted me there.

I knew he was a dangerous man and he could destroy me if only he wanted to.

That’s not what he wanted though. It’s not what he needed.

It’s not what I desired either.

It’s so easy to get lost in the touch of a man who’s powerful and unattainable.

A man who wants for nothing … except me.

Soft touches and stolen glances made my blood heat and my heartbeat in a way I never knew it could.

Yes, it’s easy to fall into a haze of lust and desire.

But there’s a reason his reputation is one of a heartless man.

And I should have known better.

Okay, okay. I’m just going to jump right into this review. We pick right back up on were Merciless ends and just the flow from one book to another it was just fantastic. We learn a little more about both of their backgrounds. I love the little pieces of understanding we get about Carter and Aria and more than that I LOVE being in their minds. I love the way each of them thinks. No matter who’s POV we are reading, I am always rooting for them and wanting the best possible outcome for each of them. Nothing is fast-paced, but we aren’t walking as slow as a snail either. I think the pacing of this series is perfect. I think that the things that have happened in both this book and the first book, would be realistic timing-wise.

We are still in the dark as to why Carter is still going through with all of this, with our poor sweet Aria, though I do have my suspicions. I can’t wait to dig deeper into his delicious mind and find out all of the reasons he’s doing this. My favorite, Aria is going through some turmoil and truly battling with herself on how she feels about everything, especially Carter. I love being in Aria’s perspective because everything she is feeling is real and genuine and I can so relate with her and sympathies.

Honestly, parts of this book gave me full-body chills, and no I don’t mean bad full-body chills (True Crime Junkies you know what I’m talking about), I mean the delicious kind of full-body chills. Where you know something so wrong, but oh so good, is going to happen and it does and it leaves your heart bursting with so much happiness. Do you ever just read something and think “How am I ever going to read anything else ever again?” I mean the detail and description that Willow Winters uses in her books is just crazy. I don’t know how I didn’t find her books sooner. Willow Winters is a writing genius and I truly mean that. It’s just everything about this book is fantastic.

I can’t think of anything that I didn’t love about this book. It’s additive, kept me on my toes, so intense, and I just can’t wait to dive into Book 3 as soon as I finish writing this review.

About the Author:

I started writing after having my little girl, Evie, December of 2015. All during my pregnancy with her I read. I only wanted to read smut and I read EVERYTHING. I would read a book a day — sometimes two. In January I was staying up late with her and just thinking of all these stories. They came to me constantly. And I finally sat down and just started writing. I always wanted to do it so I figured, why not? I never thought I would reach this point of success to be honest. It’s insane to me that I have so many fans. And I love each and every one of them for all of their support. I’ll be honest, some days are HARD. I have my two littles (Jax who’s two and a half and Evie who just turned one!) during the day and I write at night. Some days are just simply exhausting and then I hear from a fan and it makes me want to push through and keep writing. And I do. I promise I won’t stop!
