An imprisoned cowboy. An empowered woman. When true love is forbidden, opening their hearts could destroy them both…
Chained and enslaved, Jake Nichols is convinced he’ll die alone. In this new order where men are stripped of all power, he endures brutal torture at the hands of his female captor. But when he’s hired out to build a ranch home for an outspoken beauty, his dreams of escape transform into visions of passion.
Monica Avery struggles to fill her heart in a loveless society. With marriage outlawed and romantic partners reduced to pawns, she’s given up hope of finding her soul mate. But watching the rugged rancher hard at work on her shelter awakens her deeply buried desires.
As the project comes together, Monica discovers a kindred spirit in the tenderhearted Jake. But despite their growing attraction, he still belongs to a cruel woman who’d rather see him dead than free.
Can Monica save Jake, or will their love lead to a tragic tomorrow?
If you like scorching-hot chemistry, clever post-apocalyptic worlds, and star-crossed love stories, then you’ll adore Jamie Schulz’s captivating tale.
Jake’s Redemption is the first book in the Angel Eyes cowboy dystopian romance series.

This book was somewhat out of my comfort zone. Typically I’m reading romances with strong and hunky alpha males who like to be in charge. This book is different from my typical read since the women have all of the power and the men are used as slaves only serving to the needs of their owners.
I had an unusually hard time connecting and getting sucked into the book. There were parts of it where I started to get sucked in and then it would just throw me off. I believe it was because it was mostly written in the 3rd person and well let’s just say I need to steer clear from them. I don’t know why, it just makes it harder for me to enjoy a book if it is written that way.
Overall I really like the book. It showed us a story revolving around trauma and love, and the backlash you get sometimes from just loving who you love. It showed us how Monica and Jake try and overcome their own personal trauma and societal issues. It was to my heart’s content a nice and VERY slow, slow burn read. Boy, was my heart was signing. Do I think it could have been maybe a slightly shorter book? Sure. But do I think that Jamie Schulz did a great job at explaining both Jake’s and Monica’s past and why they are the way they are? Absolutely! This sweet romance was a great debut novel for her, I honestly thought that she did a great job of the overall storyline. Solid ⭐⭐⭐ ½ star read.
I received a finished copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
