Oh boy!

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve picked up this book to just start reading it and put it right back down. I have been dying to read this book (it’s been on my “to read” list forever) and many people have told me how much they love it. Picking up this book and trying to read it was absolutely excruciating for me. But I persevered, all thanks to the audiobook. Once I was able to listen to somebody else read the story to me, it was much easier for me to comprehend what was going on.

Jane Austen is a literary mastermind. A few times in the beginning of the book I often said to myself “why is this phrased this way or that way and why did she use that word?”, Everything just felt so complex and I wasn’t really grasping on what was going on. As I continue through the book, I started to understand more of what was going on. I finally understood why Jane wrote the way she did. She knows how and what to say and she does it so poetically at the same time. The writing couldn’t have been better.

As for the overall story I really enjoyed Elizabeth. She is my absolute favorite character in this book. She’s not going to bow down to any man who comes her way. She is very much her own person and will tell you how she feels whether you like it or not. As for Darcy, he’s a gentleman, smart, strong and knows what his values are. Though he comes off to others as rude, arrogant and somewhat unbearable to be around. Inside he is a good man. As they live through the story they begin to find that the very things that agitates them apart, become the very aspects that draws them together.

If it were not for the audiobook I don’t think I would have gone through this at all! It was way easier for me to listen to this book then physically reading it myself. If you are struggling to get through this book like I was I highly suggest you get your hands on the audiobook version of it.

Solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars from me!

How can I not??
