The Manipulator
I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don’t affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He’s always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.
The Shadow
I didn’t mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can’t stay away.
I’m mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses…
I’ll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I’ll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.
While not required, it is highly suggested to read the novella, Satan’s Affair, first.

This goddamn book was so freaking good. So long story short, I read this book last year, but I didn’t honestly pay attention to it as much as I should’ve. Because reading it again, I realized how much I actually missed in regards to the story. In some strange way, I’m glad I read this over again like it was the first time. I feel like there are so many things that I could say about this book, but so many people have already said them. I completely understand why people are 50/50 on this book. You either love it or you hate it. There’s no in-between. And that’s completely understandable. But, I absolutely love this book. Zane is one of my all-time favorite anti-heroes/morally gray men. Is he an awful human being? Absolutely. However, if you don’t know me by now you should know how much I love obsessive, possessive, awful, and mean heroes. I just simply can’t help myself. Maybe that makes me an awful person, but I really couldn’t give two shits, because IT’S A BOOK. And Adaline. Oh, how I loved her so much. She felt so relatable. She’s funny, strong, persistent, and resilient. All of my favorite things in a female lead. The tidbits of information that were given throughout have me salivating for book number two, which I will be reading right after finishing this review. I literally can’t wait. I highly, highly recommend this book for people who LOVE dark romance!
There are SO many triggers when it comes to this book, so make sure you check those before reading.
